The Determined Resilient Empowered AIDS-free Mentored and Safe (DREAMS) Component of USAID Turengere Abana aims at new HIV infection prevention among Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW).
The social assets including HIV prevention education, life skills, financial literacy, gender based norms are provided to these AGYW in Safe Spaces. The AGYW get linked with health facilities for HIV Prevention services. The AGYW also access poverty reduction and resiliency support from the program : education support, support to TVET and/or on-job leaning AGYW, startup kits and linkage for internships and jobs to TVET graduates. The AGYW also are grouped into saving and lending groups to access loans which help their continuous economic empowerment.
This component is getting Implemented in Rwamagana and Nyanza district and has so far reached the total of 30,285 adolescent girls and young women.
