KEY ACHIEVEMENTS FOR THE QUARTER
IMPLEMENTED PROGRAMS
IGIRE-TURENGERE ABANA (BE RESILIENT - LET US PROTECT THE CHILDREN) 
Implemented in Nyanza, Huye and Rwamagana districts, Igire-Turengere Abana aims at reducing HIV incidence and vulnerability among Adolescent Girls and Young Women, Orphans and Vulnerable Children and their families. 
 
SUGIRA MURYANGO (FAMILY STRENGTHENING INTERVENTION) 
The program aims at improving Early Childhood Development among children of 0 to 3 years through nurturing care and reduced violence. FSI Sugira Muryango is implemented in districts of Nyanza, Rubavu and Ngoma.
 
FXBVILLAGE GASHARU II
Through this program, FXBVillage model which aims at alleviating poverty among the targeted population, is implemented in Gasharu cell of Nyamirambo sector-Nyarugenge district. 
 
FXBVILLAGE MUSAMBIRA I
This is also an FXBVillage model implemented to alleviate poverty among the targeted population of Musambira sector in Kamonyi district. 
 
FXBVILLAGE LIGHT FOUNDATION
Another FXBVillage model program implemented in Gisagara and Nyaruguru districts to alleviate poverty among the targeted beneficiaries. 
 
NSP-HIV/TB Project (National Strategic Plan-Human Immuno deficiency Virus /Tuberculosis)
Reaching out the key population (Female Sex Workers, Men who have sex with other men, Injecting drug users and Transgender) with HIV prevention package in districts of Kamonyi, Musanze, and Gakenke. 

AMIE Project (AIDS-free, Mentored, Integrated and Empowered)
This project provides the extensive HIV prevention package to Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW) in Runda sector of Kamonyi district. 

POSE (Phyto-Social Enterprise)
POSE project aims at contributing to the increased production of plant-based medicines for local and regional consumption. 

WASH and NUTRITION Project
The WASH & Nutrition project is implemented in Runda and Gacurabwenge sectors of Kamonyi district targeting children, pregnant and lactating mothers in need with nutrition and WASH support to alleviate malnutrition. 
ACHIEVEMENTS PER INTERVENTION AREA
HIV/AIDS PREVENTION, CARE AND TREATMENT
Across our catchment districts of HIV/AIDS intervention; local leaders, healthcare providers and other community actors were engaged in HIV/AIDS prevention through our quarterly stakeholders meetings
On the other hand, we had coordination meetings with 168 peer educators of key population and 261 mentors for AGYW to continuously learn and problem solve on these beneficiaries' issues towards HIV/AIDS prevention. 
  • To foster awareness, knowledge and skills on HIV/AIDS prevention; we distributed Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials and sound system for successful HIV prevention mobilization through our supported Anti-AIDS clubs in 2 partner schools.
     
  • On the other hand, we provided refresher training to 261 mentors, 168 peer educators and 717 case management volunteers. This training aimed at equipping them with the updated knowledge and skills to continue their role in HIV prevention for key population, Adolescent Girls and Young Women and Orphans and Vulnerable Children. 
     
  • We dedicated our focus to the 590 HIV-positive beneficiaries across our projects and programs with the primary goal of ensuring their consistent adherence to Antiretroviral Therapy (ART) and providing the necessary support to achieve viral load suppression. 
ECONOMIC STRENGTHENING
As part of our commitment to enhance employment opportunities to beneficiaries, we supported 440 individuals with enrolling and accessing Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs. We, additionally, helped 221 beneficiaries to enhance their job skills through apprenticeship programs. 
Recognizing the efficacy of Saving and Lending Groups as a supportive structure for empowering beneficiaries, we granted approximately 18 million Rwandan Francs to 43 groups within the FXBVillage Gasharu II, Musambira I, and WASH & Nutrition projects. This financial support aimed to uplift and empower the beneficiaries on their journey to building economic resilience.

Within our programs of Igire-Turengere Abana, FXBVillage Gasharu II, FXBVillage Musambira I, AMIE, and WASH & Nutrition, a remarkable total of 8,788 beneficiaries actively maintained their saving culture. This achievement was made possible through the support and establishment of 371 Internal Saving and Lending Groups (ISLGs) that played a crucial role in promoting financial empowerment among the beneficiaries.

In the current quarter, our efforts continued by diligently follow up 260 families who received our income generating activity (IGA) in previous quarter to ensure the long-term sustainability of their income-generating activities.
HEALTH, WASH AND NUTRITION 
HEALTH
Our POSE project has made a good progress following its launch in previous quarter. The nursery beds for the medicinal plants got constructed, and the total of 10,000 seeds were made ready to cultivation. Some of the plants were cultivated directly and provided the harvest that helped in production of ointment and Syrup. We worked and applied for the products registration during this quarter.

Through our FXBVillages (Light Foundation, Musambira I, and Gasharu II), we have supported 960 family beneficiaries with health insurance. These beneficiaries were able to additionally get programs' support in capacity building and access to tests for different non-communicable diseases.

 
WASH
  Under our FXBVillages and WASH & Nutrition projects
  • We backed the total of 250 families with materials needed for improved latrines including iron sheets, nails among others.
     
  • The same number of 250 families received the hand washing stations to improve WASH practices at home. 
     
  • The total of 900 families received the hygienic materials for improving the hygienic practices at homes. 
NUTRITION
We continued the engagement of the total of 1,680 families in the activities that contribute much to to food availability through farmer field schools (FFS).
Our FXBVillage programs and WASH & Nutrition conducted kitchen demonstrations to boost understandings of 1,680 beneficiary families on how to prepare balanced diet using available food. 
A total of 2,000 chickens were distributed to the students from beneficiary families with the goal of improving the food and nutrition security back at home. 
 
EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT
Through Sugira Muryango Program
  • We successfully completed session delivery to 1,004 families of Sake, Muyira and Busasamana sectors of Ngoma, Nyanza and Rubavu districts respectively. Sugira Muryango sessions enable the families with children of 0 to 36 months on how to improve their Early Childhood Development (ECD). 
     
  • In these districts, the program successfully completed the PLAY collaborative meetings, the platform which was in place during Sugira Muryango intervention, gathering stakeholders to learn and solve together the problems affecting the achievement of ECD.  

     
  • From June 27 to June 29, we joined other ECD partners through Saving the Brains Workshop to share the experience and discuss on what to further and how to do it as we scale the ECD interventions 
EDUCATION
  • Through Igire-Turengere Abana, FXBVillage Gasharu II, AMIE Project, FXBVillage Musambira I, the total of 42,684 school level beneficiaries were supported with scholastic materials and school fees to continue their studies well. 
     
  • We kept the close collaboration with the schools in which our all educational level beneficiaries study through the supervision of how qualitative they are studying.  
  • FXB Rwanda worked collaboratively with its implementing partners to do a collaborative school monitoring to learn on how the efforts programs gather in supporting children are helping as well as getting feedback from schools stakeholders on how to do better in upcoming programming.  
VIOLENCE PREVENTION
  • We continued to engage the total of 31,228 Adolescent Girls and Young Women on gender sensitive practices and prevention of any form of violence through Igire-Turengere Abana  and AMIE programs.
     
  • The total of 616 young boys were reached with our Coaching Boys into Men (CBIM), the approach that is in place to teach young boys on how to turn into good men free of violence thoughts and practices. 
     
  • Under our Start Awareness Support Action (SASA) approach, we were able to mobilize the total of 15,754 community members on negative norms change. 
ENGAGEMENT AND EVENTS
SUGIRA MURYANGO DISSEMINATION
One of the significant achievements of this quarter was the dissemination event, where the immediate post-intervention results of the Sugira Muryango expansion phase were presented. The event was held on April 18, 2023, and brought together various stakeholders including government institutions, civil society organizations, international and national non-governmental organizations in early childhood development sector, program partners and funders among others.

AUGUSTA FOUNDATION PRESIDENT VISIT
From June 3 to June 6, 2023; we had the privilege of hosting Jean Pierre Carles, the president of Augusta Foundation who is one of our esteemed donors. During his visit, he witnessed the sustainability of the impacts of our phased out FXBVillage Mbuga and Mbare. Additionally, he also visited the FXBVillage Musambira and POSE projects to gain insight into their progress and offer guidance where necessary.
